Gateway’s Mammography Program Awarded Accreditations
Gateway Medical Center’s Mammography Program recently passed, with no citations, two critical surveys; The American College of Radiology Accreditation, and the Food and Drug Administration’s Mammography Quality Standards Act survey.
The Food and Drug Administration accreditation is awarded to facilities based on the objectives set forth by the Mammography Quality Standards Act. The survey includes six major areas; equipment performance, technologist quality control, medical physicist survey, personnel qualifications, medical reports and outcome audits.
The American College of Radiology accreditation is awarded to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of equipment.
Gateway’s Director of Diagnostic Imaging, Chris Beasley said, “ These accreditations help to ensure that patients receive quality service performed by a qualified and experienced staff.”
Gateway’s Breast Health Center is designed to make care convenient, comfortable, and reassuring. Licensed and specially trained radiologic technologists operate the latest in digital mammography equipment.
