Sleep Disorders Center

Sleep disorders affect one out of four people. The most common sleep disorder is called sleep apnea. It affects breathing, resulting in frequent awakenings, snoring, increased blood pressure, excessive daytime sleeping, possible loss of productivity and loss of concentration. If left untreated if can lead to cardiac problems, stroke, or even death. Click here to learn more about the signs of a sleep disorder.

The procedure to evaluate for sleep disorders is very simple, starting with a referral from a primary care physician. Once your physician has evaluated you, a sleep diagnostic test may be ordered. A sleep diagnostic test or polysomnogram is an overnight evaluation of your sleep. State-of-the-art equipment and highly trained sleep specialists will remotely monitor and record brain waves, heart rate, breathing patterns, as well as muscle and leg movements. This sleep evaluation will take place in a room decorated and furnishes much like a hotel suite for your comfort.

The Sleep Disorders Center at Gateway Medical Center is a brand new facility with the latest equipment. All of our clinical staff are highly trained in their field and have been credentialed as Registered Polysomnographer Technologists by the National Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists.

There are various treatment options available for sleep apnea that can improve your quality of life. Click here to learn more about the options available to you here at Gateway.
